A Twitch streamer who has been livestreaming a cross-country walk from Philadelphia to California was struck by a car in Indiana during a broadcast on Monday, with footage of the incident spreading rapidly across social media platforms.
The streamer, known online as hmblzayy — also referred to as Minister Zay or Humble Zay — was around 34 days into his roughly 3,000-mile journey when the accident occurred. A Mazda that had stopped behind him as he walked near the road was rear-ended by a second vehicle, pushing it into him and absorbing a significant portion of the impact. He was knocked to the ground but got back to his feet before being taken to hospital for evaluation-according to Truth Times. He was subsequently seen wearing a back brace. No official update on the full extent of his injuries had been confirmed at the time of publication.
The moment was captured live on stream and clips circulated quickly across Reddit, X, Instagram and TikTok, with the incident generating significant engagement on the r/LivestreamFail community on Reddit. Many viewers noted the accident could have been considerably worse given the circumstances.
hmblzayy’s walk is a faith-inspired mission with a charitable purpose — he is raising awareness and funds for the building of trade schools for underserved young people. The journey, which he has been documenting daily on stream, has attracted a growing following over the weeks since he set out, with viewers tracking his progress through varying terrain and weather conditions.
The streamer’s community has been sending messages of support and prayers for a full and speedy recovery online.
