According to reports the victim was found bound to his bed with serious injuries after tactical units tracked a vehicle linked to the suspected attackers overnight. The suspects were intercepted in Welbekend, where officers recovered suspected stolen property from the vehicle. Police have since taken over the investigation from private security.

The homeowner was found tied to his bed with multiple injuries consistent with a prolonged assault, having reportedly been subjected to beating, stabbing and torture over the course of several hours. Emergency medical services treated the man at the scene before he was taken to hospital.
Investigators allege the attackers also stole the victim’s bakkie, or pickup truck, which was later linked to the suspects’ movements and helped lead officers to their location. The farmhouse itself was reportedly ransacked during the attack, with investigators now examining the scene for forensic evidence, including fingerprints, DNA and other items that may have been left behind by the attackers.
How the suspects were caught
The operation to track down the suspects began after private armed response company Echo1 assisted in locating the group following the attack. Officers subsequently intercepted a vehicle linked to the suspected criminal group in Welbekend, recovering suspected stolen property during the stop. The arrests came at the conclusion of an overnight operation involving law enforcement.
Following the arrests, the case was handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS), which has now taken over the ongoing investigation.
