A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after a video circulating widely on social media showed him throwing a teenage girl to the ground and stamping on her head in broad daylight on a New York City street, after she refused to give him her phone number.
The attack took place at the corner of East 107th Street and 3rd Avenue in East Harlem at around 3.30pm on Monday, shortly after local schools had let out for the day. According to police, the boy confronted the 15-year-old girl in the crosswalk, blocking her path and threatening her as one of his companions urged him on.

In the footage, the girl attempts to walk away from the confrontation, telling him to leave her alone. The boy then grabs her from behind, lifts her off the ground and slams her into the pavement. As she lies on the ground in pain, he stamps on her head before walking away.
The victim suffered a concussion and was treated at the scene by emergency medical services before being taken to Harlem Hospital, where she was listed in a stable condition.
The boy was arrested and charged with assault. He is due to appear in family court on Thursday.
