A criminal in Wisconsin attempted to do a smash and grab by repeatedly smashing a jewelry case with a brick — only to come up empty-handed and probably feeling a little foolish.
The video footage which was released on Monday showed a suspect wearing a bright red shirt with matching shoes entering a Kay Jewelers about 15 miles outside of Milwaukee.
Upon walking into the store around 1 p.m., the unknown thief pulled out a brick from his pocket and proceeded to smash the display case nine times.
To his dismay, the case only cracked and splintered. His pathetic robbery attempt continued until he was chased out by the store attendant with a metal pole.
The man took off in a tan Chevrolet Malibu without a license plate.
Video footage of the attempted robbery was released to the public in the hopes of tracking down and catching the criminal, according to the New York Post.
“We’d still like to find out who this is and make an arrest,” Captain Gene Neyhart told Fox6.
“The video has become popular if not viral… I think, sometimes when you have a crime committed midday, a blatant offense like that is always concerning to the public,” said Neyhart.
Neyhart is confident that someone knows the suspect’s identity and has asked that people with information call the police or make an anonymous tip to Waukesha County Crime Stoppers.
