With the MAGA train gaining momentum and the Democrats seemingly insisting on shoving Joe Biden down their supporters’ throats again in 2024, everything seems to be set for another Trump v. Biden duel.
In a recent interview with Breitbart News, however, Donald Trump said that this might not be the case. In fact, the 45th U.S. President admitted that he was not sure whether the Democrats would nominate Biden for president again in the 2024 presidential election.
“I don’t know,” Trump said when he was asked if he believes Biden will be the Dems’ 2024 nominee.
Trump then went on to explain his reasoning. According to Trump, a president should at least have decent results if he would like to secure another nomination. But considering Biden’s dismal performance and the fact that most Democrat voters don’t want anything to do with him in 2024, there really seems to be a good chance that Trump v. Biden Round 2 will not come to pass.
“You have to do a great job to be the nominee beyond any other problems they may have. You have to do at least a reasonable job, and so far I don’t believe our country has ever been at a lower point than it is right now. To a large extent, it started with the borders where the people are pouring through, but it also started with the Afghan withdrawal and the way it was done. That was a terrible moment for our country,” Trump said.
Biden’s presidency has been characterized by a weak and worsening economy and 40-year highs in inflation, which have paved the way for record-high gas prices and key supply chain shortages. There’s also an alarming border crisis, a disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, and rising tensions with Russia and China. Couple all these with rising violent crime, and it’s no wonder even Democrats are not enthusiastic about Joe any more.
Then again, we are talking about the Democrats here. They may very well do something as foolish as force Biden into another presidential run.
To be fair, if the Dems do this, the 2024 presidential election is all but secure for the Republican Party’s nominee.
