Donald Trump Claps Back On Truth Social Against Jan 6th Committee’s ‘Surprise Witness’ Cassidy Hutchinson

PoliticsDonald Trump Claps Back On Truth Social Against Jan 6th Committee’s 'Surprise Witness' Cassidy Hutchinson

Just recently, the January 6th Committee announced that it would be hearing from a new witness. This witness turned out to be Cassidy Hutchinson, the former right-hand to Donald Trump’s White House chief of staff.

Hutchinson provided a number of anecdotes during her testimony, claiming that Donald Trump intended to travel with his supporters at the rally to the Capitol. She also recalled hearing from two security officials, including the head of the then-president’s Secret Service detail Robert Engel, that Trump had been angry about the fact that he could not be with his supporters during the rally.

According to Hutchinson, she heard that Trump had been so upset that he was being taken back to the White House that he lunged for the steering wheel of his vehicle. He was allegedly physically restrained by Engel, according to a POLITICO report. She also alleged that Trump had thrown food at the wall in frustration previously, which resulted in her cleaning up the mess.

These stories are undoubtedly controversial, and controversial stories warrant strong responses. Fortunately, Donald Trump is a person that wants both sides of a story to be heard. Thus, in a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump denied several of Hutchinson’s claims. Trump immediately noted that he is not very familiar with Hutchinson at all.

“I hardly know who this person, Cassidy Hutchinson, is, other than I heard very negative things about her (a total phony and “leaker”), and when she requested to go with certain others of the team to Florida after my having served a full term in office, I personally turned her request down. Why did she want to go with us if she felt we were so terrible? I understand that she was very upset and angry that I didn’t want her to go, or be a member of the team. She is bad news!” Trump wrote.

The 45th U.S. President also made it a point to highlight that despite the chaos of the January 6 riots, there were no guns found or brought into the Capitol building. Trump then noted that there was indeed a gun that was used that day, and it was not used against any government official — it was used to kill a protester instead.

“Never complained about the crowd, it was massive. I didn’t want or request that we make room for people with guns to watch my speech. Who would ever want that? Not me! Besides, there were no guns found or brought into the Capitol Building…So where were all of these guns? But sadly, a gun was used on Ashli Babbitt, with no price to pay against the person who used it!” Trump wrote.

Trump denied the colorful story of him throwing food at the wall and lunging at the steering wheel of his vehicle as well. Trump noted that such allegations were “ridiculous” and “fake.”

“Her Fake story that I tried to grab the steering wheel of the White House Limousine in order to steer it to the Capitol Building is “sick” and fraudulent, very much like the Unselect Committee itself – Wouldn’t even have been possible to do such a ridiculous thing. Her story of me throwing food is also false…and why would SHE have to clean it up, I hardly knew who she was?” Trump wrote.
